Being part of the herd is a good thing when it comes to group discount. I think its a smart and innovative way to grab some deals with collective purchasing power. Though it is limited to few cities at this point but the popularity its catching up.
So how it works:
Basically, a company puts up an offer that only triggers if enough people take the deal.
For instance on the above promotion by a local Spa in Virginia offered the package for $65 valued at $139. They needed minimum number of people to trigger this deal. If they do not reach the min. number deal is canceled. So in the above deal 2450 people (at the time of this writing) took the deal, which, if you think about it means that the spa books over $$$$ in business for this one promotion. Not bad, eh?
