Loudoun County Virginia Residence Register if you have Home Alarm System

Loudoun County Alarm System Registration Now Available Online‏

If you are Loudoun County Resident or have business with Alarm System at your place, in order to reduce false alarm the Loudoun County False Alarm Prevention Unit has unveil a new online registration system. This new website will allow home owners and businesses to resister their contact information and view account history. It does not cost the owners to register!!

According to the 2005 ordinance to protect alarm users from being charged for occasional mistakes, the owners were allowed 2 false alarm without penalty for each calendar year. The goal was to reduce the number of false alarms so the department can spend time investigating and previewing more serious problems.

The ordinance has been successful and false alarms have been reduced from 13,900 in FY04 to 7,513 in FY11. Of the nearly 8,000 alarm calls in FY10, only 1 was a valid alarm. A high percentage of alarm calls each year are triggered by user error and entry/exit errors. As with most agencies, Loudoun County dispatches two deputies on alarm calls. When totaled together, the time deputies spent on false alarm calls in FY10 equates to a deputy working 24 hours a day for more than 300 days on alarm calls only. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office urges homeowners and businesses to prevent false alarms by reviewing proper alarm system operation with family members and employees. If an alarm is accidentally triggered, users should contact the alarm company promptly to cancel the alarm and prevent a deputy from being dispatched unnecessarily.
